It’s been a very long time since I’ve made anything, not since that brownie in upstate NY back in November. I was living in the city up until December with a live in job, so I could not use the oven, not even a blender. I left that job, spent Christmas week in Miami then came to Nicaragua while looking for another job back in Miami. My grandma had given me mangoes, a neighbor had given us cantaloupe and I cut some maduro from the backyard, which is the banana’s cousin, so it was all organic.
I diced up some a whole giant mango, two “bananas” and froze them.
The cantaloupe came after and stayed fresh since a neighbor gave them to my dad and I incorporated them into the smoothies.
The mango was so frozen and hard to break apart that my knife just stayed in place.
The first smoothie was mostly mango based an I just called it a mango lassi.
My mason jar is back in Miami, so here I use a drink cup with a lid that came from ordering a smoothie somewhere.
Added the rest to a martini glass that came from a 12 piece set from Ross to make it fancy.
The other smoothie had a little bit of mango, but mostly cantaloupe, which were almost 2 whole ones. Both smoothies had the “banana”.
I poured this one into a wine glass to keep the fancy going. Both smoothies were delicious and all raw.
Fancy Fancy eh.
I’ve been eating raw for a week so I haven’t been able to bake anything. I am not raw, vegan or even vegetarian, but since staying with my cousin in NY, I have been vegetarian almost vegan. She was going to do raw starting this past Monday June 17 and asked If I would like to do it too, I said yes, I’ve always wanted to try it. I’ve been more disciplined than her cause she’s been having soy chai lattes and coffee, I haven’t cheated 🙂
Day One: Avocado Sushi Rolls
I don’t really like avocado, I know surprising, so I only added a little bit to mine. Everyone I tell is always surprised I don’t like it and say I’m the only one in the world who doesn’t.
Again I haven’t had a chance to post this since I’m on vacation. I made this smoothie to use the fruits that would go bad in the month I would be gone, I call it a “use all the fruits” smoothie.
I had some raspberries that were going bad and decided to use them in a smoothie.
This is the smoothie I’ve made before, but thought it would be cool and different to turn into popcicles. I don’t have the molds so I made it scoop able.
My cousin Rebeca is vegan and has been for most of her life and she does presentations about raw food. I went to one of these presentations as her assistant and this smoothie was one of the things she made there.
